Grade 7 - Social Studies Greece "Posters on a Box" Project |
| Project Description The following materials are needed: large cardboard box, tissue paper or something with which to cover the box, markers, glue. A box has been displayed in class, so students should have an idea of the size needed. Research the following areas: 1. Geography and Government 2. Religion and Philosophers 3. Athens and Sparta 4. Architecture and other Achievement 5. Alexander the Great Write a one page paper on each number, one through five. For example, the first paper will be about the geography and government of Greece. The second paper will be about the religion and philosophers of Greece, and so on. You will use five sides of the cardboard box, four sides and one top. You will create a mini poster depicting items one through five on each side of the box. Pull out the most important elements of your research to put on the box. Again, imagine that each side is a poster depicting that area of study. At least one book and one encyclopedia (not on-line) must be used as resources. Any other type of resource such as the text book or on-line materials may be used. Remember that everything must be in your own words. One complete bibliography for the whole project must be turned in with the project. It must be in proper bibliographic form. Please check with Mrs. Nally or Mrs. Whiteley if you do not know what that is. Please do not ask for help the day before the project is due, because there may not be time to explain it to you. We will begin the research for this project on Wednesday, November 15. All materials must be available in school on Monday, November 20. You may take anything home to work on over the break if you would like (not required). |
