Assessment Rubrics

Content Based Web Pages:
Task: Your task is to create a web site that gives information about a topic and also links to other internet sites related to that topic. Your web pages will be created mainly for teachers and students in our school, but they will also be uploaded to the internet so that virtually everyone will be able to view them.
Objectives: The students will:
    *Learn to create web pages.
    *add backgrounds and graphics to web pages to create an attractive design
    *Research the library and the internet to find information about a topic.
    *Organize and present the information on a web site. The whole world could have access to your site.
Required Elements:
Your web site should include:
    *a title page
     *2 web-pages of information form both library and internet sources
    *a bibliography page
    *links between web pages
    *up to 3 links to related internet sites on the World Wide Web.
 
Evaluation:
Your web site will be evaluated according to the Content-Based Web Site Rubric. Your percentage can be determined by adding your scores for each level and dividing by six.  Then divide that number by 30 and multiply the result by 100.

Layout/ Design
Web pages are unattractive. Text is difficult to read. Backgrounds and graphics are distracting. Pages appear busy or boring. Text may be difficult to read. Backgrounds and graphics are somewhat distracting. The pages are eye-catching and attractive. Text is easy to read. The backgrounds are subtle and appropriate. The pages are creatively designed with text in tables. Graphics and backgrounds enhance the page.
Information
Information is poorly written, inaccurate, or incomplete. (less than 1 page worth of info) Some information is provided, but is limited or inaccurate. (1 info page) Information is well written and interesting to read. (1 1/2 info pages) Information is accurate and complete, is creatively written, and is cleverly presented. (2 info pages)
Navigation / Links
The user may become lost; links may be missing or not working.  Navigation is confusing. Includes 1 working link to related internet sites. Navigation is easy and consistent. There are 2 working  links to related internet sites. Links are created with images and icons to enhance the text links. Includes 3 or more links to related internet sites.
Sources / Bibliography
Only one source for information is used. Only one type (library or internet) of source is used. Both library sources and internet sources are used. A variety of library and internet sources are used.

No listing of sources is provided. Some sources are listed. All sources are listed. All sources are listed in proper bibliography form.
Work Habits
The student is repeatedly off task and is willing to settle for less than personal best. The student is sometimes off task and is willing to settle for less than personal best. The student uses class time wisely while working toward personal best. The student uses class time wisely while working toward personal best, puts in extra effort, and uses outside time if necessary.

Research Paper:
Task: Your task is to write a one page research paper that gives information about a topic. Your paper will be combined with the others from the class to form a book which will remain in our school.
Objectives:  The student will:
    *Learn to write a research paper.
    *Add illustrations to form an attractive presentation for the book.
    *Research the library and the internet to find information about a topic.
    *Learn to write a bibliography in correct form.
Required elements:
Your paper should include:
    *a title page with report name, subject, date, your name, and an illustration
    *1 page worth of information from both library and internet sources
    *12 font, double spaced, justified setting
    *a bibliography page
 

Evaluation:
Your research paper will be evaluated according to the following Rubric. Your percentage can be determined by adding your scores for each level and dividing by six. Then divide that number by 25 and multiply the result by 100.

Three Dimensional Model:
Task: Your task is to create a three dimensional madel that gives information about a topic. Your model will be created at home.
Objectives: The student will:
    *Create a 3 dimensional model depicting a topic
    *Briefly explain the model on an index card.
    *Research the library and the internet to find information about a topic.
Required elements:
Your model should be:
    *Three dimensional and accurately depict subject.
    *Labeled with a 3 by 5 index card with a brief description and your name.
    *Creative and reflect your personal best effort.
    *Neat and on time
 

Evaluation:
Your model will be evaluated according to the following Rubric. It assumes that your model is turned in on time. A model turned in without an index card will result in a zero in the Spelling and Grammar categories. Your percentage can be determined by adding your scores for each level and dividing by three. Then divide that number by 20 and multiply the result by 100.
