| The first step in the paper making process is to shred the paper into small pieces. Any colors may be used, We used a combination of construction paper and newspaper. | ![]() |

Next, we put the shredded paper into an old blender. After pouring in water, the substance is blended to a consistency of mush. |
| The 'mush', or pulp, is poured into a larger container. Then we dipped a framed screen into the substance. Once the frame was lifted out, we drained as much liquid as possible from the frame, leaving only the wet pulp. | ![]() |

From there, we attempted to transfer the pulp to a larger screen to dry. This was so that the framed screen could be reused by the next student. Unfortunately, the paper tended to fall apart at this point. To solve the problem, we decided to buy a large sheet of screen material and cut it into enough pieces to supply a five by seven piece for each student. Each student then dipped the piece of screen into the pulp mixture and allowed the pulp to dry on that screen. |
| This picture shows the pulp drying on one common screen. In later attempts, the pulp dried on the smaller individual screens. Once dry, the paper is ready to print the students' names in hieroglyphics. | ![]() |
