St. Joan of Arc Sixth Grade Study of Ancient Egypt

The sixth grade class of St. Joan of Arc School studied Ancient Egypt in a variety of ways.  The unit began with an overview of Ancient Egypt via films and the text book.  From these, students were able to generate ideas for further study.  The other phases of the project proceeded as follows:
 

• Independent Research:  Students researched a topic and created 3 dimensional models.
• On-line scavenger hunt answering questions about mummies.
• Hands - on activities such as, Making Paper,, Mummifying Carrots,and writing in Hieroglyphics.
• Creation of a web site and a book cataloguing all of the students' activities and research projects.
