Dear Incoming Sixth Grade Student,

Welcome to Junior High! Here you will find your reading assignment for the summer.

Your assignment is to read two fantasy works of fiction. The first book is Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt. When Winnie, a rather bored and overly protected child, becomes friends with the Tuck family, her life is changed forever. The Tucks, mother and father and two sons, have inadvertently drunk from a well, which gives them everlasting life. They know that the world must never be let in on their secret, for it would change life on earth for the worse.

In the second book, Bridge to Terabithia, by Katherine Patterson, Jess Aarons and his new next door neighbor, Leslie Burke, escape from their problems by imagining a fantasy world in their nearby woods.

Please complete the attached assignments (Tuck Everlasting, Bridge to Terabithia), and bring them with you on the first day of school. Have a great summer!
