Your first task will be to learn about the water cycle. You will use Internet sources to answer questions and end any confusion you may have, once and for all, about those -tion words: evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. The questions on The Water Cycle page should be answered in your science notebook.
Once you understand the water cycle, it will be time to visit the clouds. When you complete this task, you will understand which clouds remind you of a camel, your pet fish, or the Grand Canyon! In addition, you will finally understand the difference between Cirrus, Cumulus, and Stratus clouds. Also, you will know what it means when "nimbus" is added to a cloud name. The questions on the Cloud Types and Formation page should be answered in your science notebook.
Next, you will examine the current weather conditions in several cities across the United States, including our very own community of Chagrin Falls. The Weather Across the USA page will give you more information.
Have you ever wondered about the difference between the terms "weather" and "climate"? The Climate page will help you understand what each term means. Answer the questions in your science notebook, and complete the handout comparing Seattle, Miami, and Cleveland.
For your final
task, you will compare two Clevelands. You will choose one Cleveland
from a different region to compare with our very own Cleveland, Ohio.
The Which Cleveland? page will give you the information you
need to complete this task.
