Earth's Moon

  1. Making Moon Craters: The students made a variety of craters on their 'moon'. Large and small marbles were dropped from heights of 25 cm, 50 cm, 75 cm and 1 meter. The''craters' were measured and compared by marble size and distance of the drop.

  2. Lunar Olympics: How high can you jump on the moon? Lunar gravity is about one-sixth of Earth's gravity. The students measured their jump ability on Earth. Then they multiplied that distance by six. Many sports would certainly be fun to play on the moon!

  3. A Moon Outing: Imagine a picnic on the moon! What things would you pack? The students made a list of necessary supplies. The lack of atmosphere and the weak lunar gravity had to be taken into consideration.
