GOOD WORKS, PEOPLE, SERVICES, DOLLARS, VALUES

The quality of life in our community is greatly enhanced by many programs and services provided by Catholics and Catholic organizations.  Because this information is not well known, however, these good works are under appreciated.  Her are just a few of these good works:

~ Catholic schools educate close to 60,000 children each year.

~ The Diocesan school system is the second largest school system in Ohio.  The 150 Catholic elementary and secondary schools employ more than 3,800 professional staff.

~ Catholic Charities of the Cleveland Diocese is the largest provider of health and human services in Northeast Ohio, offering over 100 programs, including 12 Head Start centers, 2 child care institutions, 3 homes for the aged and 46 Catholic Charities service locations.  Catholic Charities also partners with 4 Catholic hospitals and 21 nursing homes through the Caritas Connection and Catholic Community Care.

~ The Catholic Charities system of the Diocese is the largest county, employing more than 1,800 employees.

The many good works of Catholics in the Diocese of Cleveland enhance our communities on several fronts to the tune of more than one billion dollars.  The annual value of educational services ($341 to $496 million),  the amount of health and human services provided each year ($90 to $169 million), and the value of Catholic neighborhood presence ($132 to $454 million), all add up to a total positive impact of $563 million to $1.1 billion.
