Community Life
Commission
Description
There are four primary areas this Commission will focus
on. They are:
- Hospitality and welcoming – This commission will monitor and
ensure that a committee is formed to handle welcoming parishioners
before and after each Mass. It could be set up to have one
planned “Welcoming Mass” every month, hosted by a different
parish commission. Also, to come up with some way of welcoming new
parishioners personally; for example, by inviting them to one of the
after Mass coffee and donut gatherings; assign a commission member to
introduce the new members to others at the
attending.
- Parish organizations and groups – This commission will link
together all the parish organizations and support groups for the
purpose of interacting socially. Combined events will be encouraged on
occasion. The Community Life will create and manage a
Community Life Calendar to insure there are no conflicts and that
spacing will exist between events.
- Recruiting and managing volunteers – This commission will
monitor and ensure that a committee is formed to recruit volunteers,
assign volunteers to area of interest & recognize volunteers
for their valuable service. The Parish should make every effort to make
the members of the this commission known to the
parishioners.
- Providing fun events and socials for the parishioners – The
commission will brainstorm new ideas for events that will bring the
parish together socially. The commission will also make recommendations
on how to improve existing events. This commission will monitor and
establish committees for quarterly social events that will bring
together the parishioners to have fun and celebrate their common bond
to St. Joan of Arc. The now 2nd Annual Parish Picnic is a
great example.
